Stock bottom end lt1

These cams are designed for popular combinations using stock bottom end LT1 or 355 engines and will work for most peoples set ups.  A customer with a 383/396, solid roller, turbo, supercharger, extra wild, extra mild, etc, etc, will want a custom cam designed for there set up. Will the stock bottom end of a 97 LT1 motor handle top end kits that are supposed to make 400-450 HP? Those kits don't include an intake. Can I use the stock intake and TB? While there have been one or two people that have had good results with the GM847 / GTP-6 and stock heads.I wouldn't recommend it. It's just too much cam for the heads and you'd see better results with a different cam than just throwing on a big ole cam and crossing your fingers.

Trans: stock 6 speed manual Rearend: stock 10 bolt with 3:42's Old #'s and new #'s for comparison That stock two bolt bottom end lasted about 1000 miles before some bearings gave up. I now have a Golen 383 4 bolt with an Eagle 4340 forged crank and H-beam rods, Mahle forged pistons flat top -5cc. Cam is now 230* 600" on a 107 lsa.

Jump to Latest Follow 1 - 7 of 7 Posts they all say the stock lt1 can take 500 to 550 horse before you have to get with the forged rods and cranks but this all depends on the wear and tear of the engine and if its a 4 or 2 bolt main The bottom end is a fresh rebuild, but I used crank rods
